Sri Ayyappa is the son of Lord Shiva and Mohini. Ayyappa stands for constructive destruction which is a combination of Vishnu and Shiva. He protects our spiritual wealth and grace by maintaining the thought of godliness and destroys all other thoughts pertaining to worldly infatuations, the low (tamasic) negative tendencies and promotes the pure cohesive (satvic) nature in the worshipper. The Lord is considered the God of constructive destruction, the Protector. He is the symbol of unity among all sects of Hinduism.
In Hinduism, a deity, often referred to as a god or goddess, represents a divine power or principle. Hindus have a wide range of deities, each with their own unique stories, attributes, and significance. They are revered, celebrated, and worshipped in various forms and manifestations.
Hinduism encompasses a vast pantheon with millions of deities. However, most of these are regional or local manifestations of a smaller number of major deities. The Holy Trinity or "Trimurti" of Brahma (the creator), Vishnu (the preserver), and Shiva (the destroyer) is central to many traditions within Hinduism.
Start by learning the stories, attributes, and significance associated with that deity. Engage in temple activities, attend lectures or discourses, or consult sacred scriptures. Open-minded exploration and genuine curiosity are key.
